![]() ![]() Debutant Sanjana Natrajan as Vijay’s political opponent is impressive and promising. ![]() Mehreen hardly has anything to do in this film. Sathyaraj is equally effective in a well-written character, which reminds us of veteran journalist and political adviser Cho Ramasamy. ![]() Nasser once again proves his versatility in a power packed role. The power game between them begins and how Varun finally continues as the CM of the state forms the rest.Ī vibrant looking Vijay Devarakonda is a major asset to the film and he pulls of his act effortlessly. When his dad comes out on bail, there arises a situation when both father and son become rivals. Delving deeply into politics, Varun realizes the inconsistencies in the system and he sets things right in his own inimitable style earning a name of ‘Rowdy CM’. Varun is supported by his journalist mentor Mahendhran (Sathyaraj) who becomes his political adviser. And the incident changes his mind and he becomes committed to his job. Varun gets distressed when his party cadres set a bus on fire, which kills a small child. A seasoned (read scheming) politician, Vinodhan instructs his trusted party men headed by Thastagir (MS Bhaskar) to trigger off riots in the state. Meanwhile, Vinodhan gets convicted and jailed for five years. While partying hard, cops and officers inform him that his dad has chosen him as the interim CM, as Vinodhan was slapped with corruption charges.ĭespite being sworn in as CM, Varun continues to hang around with his friends and wants to enjoy his life. He visits India on his birthday to spend good time with his friends and to meet his little stepsister. An ardent gamer, he is more into his video game developing than interested in his dad’s political life. Varun (Vijay Devarakonda) who lives in London is a happy-go-lucky person and son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vinodhan (Nasser). With his amazing screen presence, charisma and perfect Tamil diction, Vijay Devarakonda nails his debut in K’town. At the end, one can easily make a guess that there would definitely be a part 2 of NOTA coming soon.Cast: Vijay Devarakonda, Nasser, Sathyaraj, Mehreen, Sanjana, MS Bhaskar.įilm Nota, a political thriller written and directed by Anand Shankar marks the entry of Tollywood sensation Vijay Devarakonda in Tamil. All in all, NOTA was a decent attempt but definitely not worth cramping your time above your priorities. The good part was that the director did not adjust comedy scenes into this political film. You feel like when would all of this end. The director tries to fit so much drama in the story and kind of drags it too far in the second half involving the scenes of black money thread. Just when you feel like you are having interesting scenes in the second half like the flood scene handled by the CM in a war room, there are equally unimpressive threads like the black money. But Vijay carried the entire film on his own shoulders with his acting skills. There were a few scenes in the movie which make you feel like the excerpts from BAN and OkeOkkadu. The second half starts on an impressive note as Vijay takes full charge as the Chief Minister and rules on his own terms. Most of the first half doesn't interest you in any way but having said that, a good platform for the second half was laid. It was a typical political film without any elevating scenes. Throughout the first half, all the scenes were boring except for the scenes where Vijay takes charge against his own party after the school girl's death in a bus fire. The movie started on a complete tamil flavor and you don't find lip sync for even Vijay's dialogues which is hard to digest as a telugu cinema fan. He was given a bad character which doesn't impress. The tamil actor in the role of Bhai was too good. Kala as oppostion party leaders daughter is impressive. Mehreen as Swathi, a reporter had nothing much to do. Sathyaraj as Mahendra a helping hand to Varun did a great job. Nasser as Vasudev gave a convincing performance as a frustrated ex-CM. His progression as an actor shows in every scene of the film. Vijay Devarakonda is the saving grace for NOTA. What happens when the temporary CM turns full time? Will Varun be able to cope with the political pressures mounting against him? Varun then notices the wrong doings of his father and tries to correct them with the help of Mahendra (SatyaRaj). He happens to be the son of the ruling party leader Vasudev(Nasser) and becomes the temporary Chief Minister of the state after his father gets arrested in a turn of events. Varun(Vijay) is a happy go lucky boy who studied in England and comes to visit an orphanage in India. With three back to back blockbusters, Vijay Devarakonda is riding super high on his acting career and now the Rowdy star teams up with the tamil director Anand Shankar to bring NOTA and tries to bag the Kollywood market as well.
